Prostate Cancer Diet

Important Notice: In any case, the following tips should replace medical treatment against cancer. A healthy diet is a way to help your body to be strong to fight against any disease including cancer and not the only weapon against this disease. If you are undergoing chemotherapy, it is strongly important that you talk to your doctor before taking any supplement.

A healthy and balanced diet can help your body fight against the illness, and thus increase the curative effects of the treatment. In fact, there is no good treatment without good nutrition. Regardless the type of cancer you are diagnosed with, it is important to eat good foods, and live a healthy lifestyle. It is shown in many studies that patients who eat a well balanced diet during cancer chemotherapy experience fewer side effects of the chemotherapy drugs.

There is no unique prostate cancer diet. Any foods that can produce energy and boost the immune system are recommended during and after cancer treatment. Fresh fruits, cruciferous vegetables, legumes (beans, chickpeas, lentils, and others), cereals and starchy foods, and protein foods (potatoes, yams, lentils, and others) are perfect foods that must be regularly eaten during and after cancer treatment.

Along with proper nutrition and conventional treatment, a healthy lifestyle (moderate physical activity, avoiding stress, maintaining proper weight, and others), abstinence from alcohol, tobacco, sugar (and all foods that contain it) and coffee are also important. Avoid consumption of pork, red meat, excess salt, and beef. In fact, these steps alone can reduce the risk of cancer and the growth of cancer cells if you are already a victim.

In addition, consume regularly greens foods (primarily cruciferous vegetables) and fruits capable to strengthen your immune system and clean your organism. It is also necessary to avoid unrefined rice and pasta. Omega-3 and soy products should not be neglected.

Anti cancer Foods

There is no doubt in the importance of fruits and vegetables in the prevention and fight against cancer. Fruits and vegetables contain large amounts of anticancer molecules, including antioxidants. The association between consumption of fruits and vegetables (separately) and prevention of cancer is scientifically proven. Fruits and vegetables are powerful tools to reduce the majority of cancers, including cancers of the lung, mouth, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, breast, colon and rectum.

During your cancer treatment or whatever food program you use for cancer prevention, it is important to increase your intake of fruits and vegetables. However, there are some that have more curative and preventive effects against cancer: berries, citrus fruits, cruciferous, alliaceous (onion, garlic, and others) and tomato. Refer to this table below; it classifies them in descending order:
